our story

Jonestead Woodcraft first took breath six years ago when our first born Malachi came into the world and we were challenged to question... well, everything! What would we teach him? What would he eat?! And so we brought two dairy goats home for his first birthday. Well, turns out that goats need land. A few homes later and our story brings us to the current Jonestead residence: a once bountiful 20 acre avocado grove that was forced into retirement by rising water prices under the previous owner. It is now home to an ever fluctuating amount of goats, ducks, chickens, a cow named Betty, two loyal guard dogs, three farm kids, and a mom and dad in love. At the Jonestead, green grass grows in between the dead avocado trees that have had the unique opportunity of weathering and sun-drying before being cut and repurposed into each one-of-a-kind piece.

Our family questions everything, as you now know, and that’s good for you! We want to live a life that brings our God glory in everything. We believe that includes the everyday beauty and utility of a charcuterie board that doesn’t transfer any unwanted chemicals into your food, or a well-crafted piece that is neither plastic nor made on an assembly line. Whether you find yourself likeminded or not, we hope you are thrilled by this piece of art and find yourself staring it as much as we have.

Shalom and enjoy!
